Wie ich mittlerweile festgestellt habe, fehlt Quake Live noch der Linux- und Mac-Support. Etwas blöd für mich, da alle meine Systeme mit Ubuntu angetrieben werden.
Was ich ziemlich seltsam finde: momentan wird nur Windows und da nur der Internet Explorer und Firefox unterstützt. Von id war man eigentlich eine größere Plattformvielfalt gewohnt.
Laut Entwicklerforum ist Linux- und Mac-Support aber unterwegs:
As of the beginning of this open beta, we only support IE and Firefox on the PC platform, BUT we’ve already started development on the Mac and Linux versions and hope to have those available shortly. Our hope for QUAKE LIVE on these platforms is very high and releasing them is a high priority for the development team.
Nun bin ich gespannt, was genau “shortly” hier bedeutet.

Momentan ist die Queue sowieso stetig um die 20-30.000 Leute
Scheint aber für den großen Ansturm wirklich gut zu laufen, die meisten Anmeldeprobleme haben sich inzwischen auch erledigt.
Anmelden konnte ich mich problemlos, habe mir direkt den Account “christian” gesichert; nur als es dann ans Runterladen des Browser-Plugins ging, war ich herb enttäuscht.
